Coaching the Youth Football Team to The Championship

Nothing feels as great as winning the youth football championship.  Depending on the size of your organization and the league they play in will determine how often you should have the opportunity to play for a championship.  I have been coaching in the second smallest town in our league yet have played for the championship in two of the past three years.  I have used the Single Wing as my Offense and the 3-4 Defense .  We have been very competitive without the best talent by a wide margin.

Championships in our town are very rare.  There has only been  4 titles in the past 18 years in our town.  The only town with a bigger drought appeared to be the New Orleans Saints.  They came into the Super Bowl winning only 2 playoff games in 42 years.  Their team this year won two playoff games, equalling the all timewin list, and broke the record with the Super Bowl Victory.  You could see the emotion on the sidelines of the Saints, especially after the onside kick to open the second half of the game.  What a gutsy call.  Sean Payton made calls to win the game.  The Saints tried to win all of their games thought the entire undefeated start, unlike the Colts who quit when their home division lead was guaranteed for the playoffs.

Value the experience if you every get the chance to play for a championship as it is won of the most thrilling experiences you can have with your players.
